Black people are suffocating in America. Our fight is social, political and economic justice.
Coincidentally, the McDuffie riots in Miami hit the 40 year mark last month, and here we are today still fighting for our lives.
We are living a form of Black suffocation in America.
I can’t breathe not only relates to your physical well-being, but it relates to:
-
- I can’t breathe because of a lack of health care.
- I can’t breathe because of a lack of employment or underemployment to take care of my family.
- I can’t breathe because I can’t afford to buy a house for my family.
- I can’t breathe because I fear for my kids, especially my son each time he walks out the front door.
Here’s a video statement from John Dixon, Executive Director of the Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT).
