Using his grandmother’s signature recipes and mixing it with a modern-day, ‘create your own’ concept, Fat Ronnie’s Burger Bar has become a local favorite and tourist destination hot spot.

The family burger business began in Harlem in 1972, with Ronnie’s grandmother and her self-named burger joint called MAXINE’S. Maxine was the first black female union butcher in the country. From the 1950s into the early 2000s, Ronnie’s family-owned and operated a number of the top restaurants, bars, and butcher shops in Harlem – Maxine’s, Meat Masters, Twenty Two West, Dolls Bar, Jewels Bar to name a few. In 2013, Ronnie continued the family burger business and recipes, with his burger joint, located on Martha’s Vineyard.
