In Miami, Haitian and Caribbean food is commonplace, but a fusion blended with Asian cuisine sounds exotic and is the theme at Ivan’s Cookhouse. If you’re a real foodie and love cooking shows, then you might be familiar with the proprietor of Ivan’s Cookhouse, which was started in early 2015 by Haitian Chef, Ivan Dorvil. He’s known for winning Chopped, season 11, and also appeared on a 2013 episode of Alton Brown’s “Cutthroat Kitchen.” He’s so hot that food guru, Guy Fieri, recently featured the restaurant on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”
Chef Ivan is not new to the food game and has cooked at various Miami Beach restaurants, including Oasis Cafe, Tap Tap, and Mango’s in addition to operating his former Nutmeg Cafe. The upscale eatery located off of Biscayne Gardens is a fusion of nuvo and traditional American, Asian fusion, Cajun/Creole, and Caribbean and of course seafood and soul food flavoring.
