In December 2014, a group of Black female physicians along with other healthcare and business professionals came together to realize the shared vision of providing top-of-the-line healthcare services to underserved communities in South Florida and beyond. From this braintrust under the leadership of Dr. Anita Petteway-Tyler, the Urban Health and Wellness Group, Inc.

The team has an unwavering commitment to the work of developing healthy communities by first addressing the needs of the underserved. Having pooled their individual talents together with both public and private resources, UHWG is committed to improving the health of this community. Already the team has plans to replicate their efforts to address a growing need and a growing gap in healthcare services.
